Secretariat

Brief
Act as secretariat for the Primary Care Society for Gastroenterology, working together with the board members to manage the society, communicate with its members, conduct research, host two events per year, obtain sponsorship and publish the society’s magazine, The Digest.
The challenge
Gastrointestinal and digestive disorders account for one in ten consultations in primary care and the same proportion of referrals to specialists. The costs of investigations and prescribing for gastrointestinal complaints are considerable. Decisions about commissioning and clinical governance in gastroenterology require primary care input and national policy in gastroenterology also needs to be informed by GPs and their community based colleagues. The PCSG is ideally placed to provide educational resources, advice and support through consultation with committee members and dialogue with our large and experienced membership.
“Our mission is to promote primary care gastroenterology. We believe that education, clinical excellence and research are essential and the opportunities to contribute to health care immense.”
Idea
Satellite PR has acted as secretariat for the PCSG for 15 years. Our efforts have seen the society flourish and we are now reaching over 200,000 health care professionals.
We launched The Digest magazine in 2011 and have since published 13 editions. The magazine acts as a mouthpiece for the society and publishes articles on a range of topics from various experts in the field of gastroenterology and gut health. We also publish the Digestif, the magazines little sister publication.
In 2017, we launched the Guts and Glory award to celebrate ordinary people doing extraordinary things in the gut health world. In three years, we’ve given our award to an eclectic bunch of people including a Premier League footballer, a social entrepreneur from in Australia and sisters who created a ground breaking blog. With their gutsy approach to raising awareness of gut health we’ve been able to highlight a range of diseases and the challenges we face.
Through a steady and consistent effort to maintain the standards of excellence promoted by the society and its members, we have helped the PCSG go from strength to strength.
