Think Asthma. Think Allergy.

Brief

Raise UK awareness of the link between asthma and allergy.

Challenge

Of the 5.4 million asthma sufferers in the UK, 50% of adults and 90% of children have allergic triggers. This makes allergic asthma the commonest form of the condition, responsible for roughly 1 in 3 asthma attacks. Yet despite the fact that allergy testing could help asthmatics manage their triggers and potentially save lives, tests are not being offered to patients.

Idea

Create a Real World Evidence Study with BSACI (British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology) in which 5,003 people with asthma were asked about their allergic triggers, knowledge of them and wider health impacts and behaviour. This study would show how few people are aware of their asthma triggers and how dangerous this lack of knowledge is to national health. The results would be and continue to be shared with national press.
